Cain Apologizes to Muslims

Cain apologizes after meeting with Muslim leaders

Updated 14h 6m ago USA Today

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican Herman Cain is apologizing to Muslim leaders for vitriolic remarks he made about Islam while campaigning for the presidential nomination.

On Wednesday, Cain met with four Muslim leaders in Sterling, Va. He said in a statement later he was “truly sorry” for comments that may have “betrayed” his commitment to the Constitution and the religious freedom it guarantees.

He also acknowledged that Muslims, “like all Americans,” have the right to practice freely their faith and that most Muslim Americans are peaceful and patriotic.

  1. He said he “would not want a Muslim bent on killing Americans in his administration”? I really don’t see the problem with not wanting Muslims bent on killing Americans in his administration. Has he changed his mind? I’m wondering if that’s acceptable with him now?
As far as Mulims having the desire to “inject Sharia Law” into the United States, the following video clip pretty much sums that up:

Herman Cain needs to grow some ‘cods’ if he wants to represent the conservative side of the political spectrum.

    • Cain also said that communities should be allowed to decide whether or not a mosque is built in their neighborhoods. Freedom of religion is guaranteed by the Constitution to all religions – including Islam. It is unfortunate that a few extremists choose to contort the teachings of the Quran to fit their political agendas, but this happens in countless other religions, as well. To refuse to appoint someone to your cabinet as POTUS due to their religious beliefs is not only ignorant, but also illegal. On another note, Sharia Law has never been and still is not a legitimate threat to the United States. It is disgusting how alive and well the anti-Muslim sentiment is in the United States. It is amazing what fear mongering can do to otherwise rational people.

      • I agree with you on the point about the mosque. Build churches, mosques, whatever; yes, it is constitutionally protected. Bear in mind that the teachings of the Koran are not being contorted by extreme Muslims … the peaceful Muslims, which are many, are the ones NOT following Islam the way Mohammed dictated it to be followed.
Now, to repeat this point … He said he “would not want a Muslim bent on killing Americans in his administration” … would you, as POTUS, appoint someone to your cabinet that’s bent on killing Americans?
It’s not Islamophobia or fear mongering when they really do want to kill you.
Sharia Law isn’t a “legitimate threat to the United States”? Jeez, igorance is bliss.
Anyway, I think you have a great blog here and I appreciate your views, though being somewhat conservative, I will probably disagree with you from time to time.
I hope you and yours have a great upcoming weekend.
